Lectures:

  • Attend the lectures since the exam will likely cover only what it covered in the lecture, and not necessarily everything in the textbook.
  • Here are some example slides from Prof. Firas Sedki: Lecture 1, Lecture 2Lecture 3

Labs: Don’t panic – this is not a chemistry lab. There are no lab coats or toxic chemicals. The lab component of this course is essentially about teaching you the basics of SPSS. Spread out over the duration of the semester, you’ll have just 3 assignments to complete using the SPSS software. The TA will go through it step-by-step in detail, and you’ll have a couple of weeks to complete the assignment. Thankfully, every computer at Concordia has SPSS included. If you want to buy an official copy for yourself at home, just note that it will cost double of what the entire course costs, therefore not recommended. Additionally, the computer lab room is always open and available in case you miss a tutorial.

  • Shout-out to Maria, the greatest TA!

Exams:

  • The exams consist of multiple choice questions, fill-in-the-blanks, and long answers (i.e. calculations)
  • Note, some professors will allow you to bring in a cheat-sheet which can save you the hassle of remembering the necessary formulas.
