Introductory Experimental Waves and Modern Physics (1 credit)

This is the lab component associate with PHYS 206.

Note, you do not have to take this at the same time as PHYS 206

This laboratory course covers the fundamental experiments in waves and modern physics. Experiments include spectrometer measurements, Newton’s rings and measurements involving radioactivity.

There is one lab every two weeks.

Each lab begins with a short quiz. At the end of each lab, you are to submit your lab notebook to the TA to be graded

At the end of the semester, before the final exam period, there will be a lab exam.

Here are some example questions of what to expect on the lab exam:

  • Do a problem involving Snell’s law
  • Double-slit calculation
  • What is the wavelength of green mercury
